# Token Utility

Details planned $GET utility across fee-funded burns and buybacks, staking benefits, and governance without guaranteeing economic outcomes.

$GET is planned to coordinate four protocol functions. Each function depends on mechanisms that are not yet deployed.

### Proposed utility

| Function   | Proposed role                                                                         |
| ---------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Burn | Purchase $GET with a portion of routed fees, then send it to a dead address. |
| Buyback | Purchase $GET with a portion of routed fees, then retain it in the protocol treasury. |
| Staking | Let users lock $GET for planned launcher fee discounts and potential staking yield. |
| Governance | Let $GET holders vote on selected protocol parameters and treasury decisions. |

#### Burn

The burn mechanism is intended to link fee activity with permanent token removal. Under the proposed design, the protocol purchases $GET and sends the purchased tokens to `0xdead`.

#### Buyback

The buyback mechanism is intended to accumulate $GET in the protocol treasury. The treasury balance is proposed as a potential source for staking yield.

#### Staking

Staking is intended to align token use with protocol participation. Users would lock $GET for a proposed launch-fee discount and potential yield funded through the buyback treasury.

#### Governance

Governance is intended to give holders influence over selected protocol-level decisions. The scope includes fee parameters, supported chains, treasury allocation, and other defined settings.

### Limits of the proposed model

The utility model remains an economic hypothesis and is untested in production. It does not guarantee demand, value accrual, price appreciation, or other outcomes.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://whitepaper.getpaid.family/usdget-economics/token-utility.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
